Maybe/hopefully I will be able to share more about the e-publishing experience as I go through it for the first time. I want to learn as many lessons as I can, since the second experience (with my short story collection) will be coming along soon after.

From my understanding, Seeing by Moonlight is going to cost $3.99 for a download. There’s no plan right now to print a physical book. That would involve a lot of up-front investment, more than my partner has already done, and we’d end up having to charge something like $15 and we’d end up making less per-copy than we do at $3.99 for digital; and that’s assuming we sold all the books we printed, which is a gamble. It’s interesting how powerful simple numerical incentives are; they’re upheaving the whole publishing business like sliding tectonic plates.

We have the preliminary ePub file; so I am familiarizing myself with various software options for reading, transferring, and converting, the better to help other people I know read our book. I also converted it into MOBI and sent it to my Kindle. Although the metadata needs some tweaking, the body of the book made it through the process perfectly, and reading my own novel on my Kindle is, to put it mildly, a pretty special feeling.
