Good news today! My short story “How to Be Depressed in the Sunshine” will be published in an upcoming issue of the literary magazine A Few Lines.
I originally wrote this one a couple of years back – it’s been rejected on an even dozen occasions (that’s duotrope keeping track, not me), but I gave it another re-write before this latest go-around and I think provided it much more of a sense of structure while preserving some of the floaty, dissociative quality I wanted. My goal had been to send it to 10 mags but I had only finished four submissions – it’s hard to do too many at a sitting and I’m submitting six different stories. This was the first response on it from this version, so hooray for that!
