The Millennium Trail is an unpaved nature trail that threads through some land preserves between suburbs in Chicago. Presently it’s about 10 miles long with hopes to extend it to as much as 35, but a sign in the most polite bureaucrat-ese indicates some dispute between the Trail-makers and the property owners at Round Lake Beach, where I was staying for the first few days of my trip.

I doubt I went more than a half-mile back on the actual trail, it was brisk out and the sun was setting. But oh, what a sunset.
